Mission Statement
The mission of Cokesbury UMC's Prayer Ministry is, following the example of Jesus, to bring the power and importance of prayer into all areas of the church's ministries, and to educate about and promote prayer.

Prayer Partners
If you are interested in having/being a Prayer Partner (2 individuals who will pray regularly for one another,) please contact Chuck Christian at 477-1307.

Prayer Telephone Tree
This ministry receives calls, urgent prayer needs, and passes them on to the participants for prayer. Call Shirley Bean at the Ninth Avenue Church office. The number is 476-5818.

Sunday Morning Intercessors
Team meets at 7:45 at Ninth Avenue Campus and 10:30 at the Summit Park Campus to pray for our pastors, worship services, music ministries and Sunday School teachers...All of Cokesbury's ministries and all who will attend.

Weekly Intercession
Participants pray regularly (1/2 to 1 hour per week) at their designated times in Prayer Rooms at either campus, at home, or on an e-prayer team list.

Jabez Prayer Team
Participants pray together weekly for church ministries, congregational needs, local, state, national and international concerns.
Morning Group: Mondays at 11:00 a.m. 9th Avenue Prayer Room
Evening Group: Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. Summit Campus Prayer Room (Come & pray as your schedule allows)

Prayer Room
This is a vital, behind the scenes ministry. Participants pray 1/2 to 1 hour a week in the Prayer Room at their designated time, for congregational needs, pastoral needs, and ministries in which the church is involved as well as local, state, national and international concerns.

Altar Prayer Teams
Following Communion at each Wellness Service, prayer volunteers are available to pray for and with individuals, and to anoint individuals, if desired.

Prayer Request Follow-Up
These individuals follow up on prayer requests. They will either update the list with new prayer requests or record the answered prayer requests and praise reports. "Praying for You" cards are sent as requested. Our card coordinator is Betty Bailey (475-1491).

Gethsemane Prayer Garden
This is a place to come pray, meditate, and be in the presence of the Lord. Periodically, services are held in the prayer garden which is located between the Children's Center and the education building at the Ninth Avenue campus. If you wish to be a part of the Prayer Garden Guild, which maintains and beautifies the garden, contact Chuck Christian : 477-1307

Serenity Prayer Garden
We continuing to build the Serenity Prayer Garden at the Summit Park Campus. If you are interested in being part of this team, please call Chuck Christian (477-1307) or Dee Enzor (432-5949).
In the Serenity Prayer Garden there will be prayer areas paved with engraved bricks. This is your opportunity to buy a brick (or several) in honor or memory of someone, or to recognize people who have meant so much to you. Don't forget yourself! What a great way to express thanks to God for the life He has given you! Cost of each brick is $30.

Upper Room Remote Prayer Line
Once or twice a year, prayer request from across the nation are channeled through Nashville to Cokesbury by remote phone lines. Teams of two answer calls and pray for callers. Persons may sign up for 1/2 to 1 hour time slots. Contact Dee Enzor at 432-5949.

Prayer Vigil
This ministry functions when church or national concerns require a concentrated prayer effort. There will be a sign-up sheet for designated dates and time slots. Contact Joyce Blackwelder (478-6762) for more information.

Prayer Workshops
This ministry provides workshops on prayer once or twice a year for those who want to learn more about prayer. Classes and workshops will be advertised and will be open to everyone. Contact Connie Ragghianti at 476-5818 ext. 21 or Chuck Christian at 477-1307.

Prayer Vine Ministry
This ministry involves one person praying regularly for one other person for one year...There is no set timeand no set place. You decide when & where, and for how long you will pray. You don’t have to pray out loud…or write notes…or make phone calls…just pray! This ministry provides a net of prayer support throughout our church family. Prayer Shawl Ministry
God is knitting together a team of individuals who, as they create prayer shawls and prayer links by knitting, sewing, quilting, or crocheting, pray for the person who will receive the completed shawl or prayer link. Once finished, the shawls are prayed over and blessed by the Jabez Prayer Team, and then presented to the individuals (as God directs). It is our desire that theses individuals will be blessed by having the shawl to place across their lap or link to hold in their hand, and by the knowledge that MANY have already been praying for them.
